Caius House has proudly served the young people of Battersea for over a century. Founded in the late 1880s, we began as a small community initiative (settlement) founded by graduates of Gonville and Caius College in Cambridge supported by St Mary's Church, Battersea and have grown into a vital hub for youth development and community engagement.
Throughout our history, we have adapted to meet the evolving needs of our community. From supporting young people during wartime to addressing modern challenges like mental health, digital exclusion, and economic inequality, Caius House has remained a constant source of hope and opportunity.
Our Mission
To empower young people in Battersea by providing safe spaces, meaningful opportunities and pathways to progression through our four strategic pillars: Progression, Expression, Reflection and Participation.
In 2014 we returned back to the site of the original Caius House after 6 years away while the new youth inspired Caius House was built. Today, we operate from our home at 2 Holman Road, serving hundreds of young people annually through diverse programmes that build confidence, develop skills and create positive pathways into education, employment and enterprise. Our work is guided by the voices of young people themselves, ensuring everything we do is relevant, impactful and truly meets their needs.
The challenges faced by young people today - from the cost-of-living crisis and mental health pressures to limited access to meaningful work opportunities - demand that we continue to innovate and adapt. Our Four Pillars approach ensures we address these challenges holistically, supporting the whole person and building sustainable positive change.
